Today, 27th October 2026, Kenyan President Dr. William Ruto officially launched the 70 billion shillings Devki Group cement and clinker plant project in Ngaaie, Mwingi North. The development marks a major shift from a quiet rural zone into a growing industrial hub, bringing immediate and long-term impacts to the local real estate and property market. So what does the new development mean for the residents of Nggaie, Mwingi? The Optiven Point talked to Dr. George Wachiuri, CEO at Optiven Limited on his thoughts and this is what he shared.

At Optiven, we strongly believe in the reality of researching especially on where people are going so that we can get there in time and provide them with value for investments in real estate. My congratulations to the Devki Group and it’s Chairman Narendra Raval. The new development now means Ngaaie, Kyuso and surrounding areas will see a jump in pricing for land.

The next effect will see a rise in demand for accommodation to cater for the construction workers deployed to site as the area has not had significant infrastructure in place to cater for the surge in demand for accommodation. Where there were no trading centers, there will now be a rise in commercial properties that will be home to kiosks, shops, hardwares and much more.

What about the infrastructure? It will definitely be enhance out of necessity with links and power and water being installed with the result being higher valuation of the properties. In all transformation is coming to Ngaaie and best congratulations once again to Devki Cement.
