A career could be defined as an occupation undertaken for a significant period of a person’s life and offers opportunities for progress. Or a really long job, and who else other than the Optiven group CEO George Wachiuri, who has been in the business for more than 25 years, to delve into this intuitive subject matter.
Malcolm X quoted ” Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for today.“
On a breezy afternoon at the newly opened Optiven Global office in Karen, university students started to make their way for a powerful one hour talk with George Wachiuri. The astute entrepreneur who also has a mentorship program “George Wachiuri School of Mentorship” where he targets entrepreneurs and start ups to grow exponentially, made time on the 8th December 2022 to positively impact the young visionaries.
In his gestured speech, Wachiuri pointed out aspects to be successful, dominate and major issues that could ruin your career. “Avoid mixed grill courses“, he said as he shared on the many courses he did to make himself in demand. “I did CPA, accounting, business courses, marketing…. Your CV needs to be precise“, he concluded as he encouraged them to pick one course and master the art.
On that note, he also mentioned on a mentorship program every 3 months at Optiven aimed at equipping fresh graduates with skills and experience for the job market. Tyson Ambani is a beneficiary of the program currently serving as a customer service manager at Optiven after joining the mentorship program in July.
He highlighted skills gained and understood how to operate a phone and a laptop professionally which was not possible before. “My hope of building my mum a home is a dream come true because Optiven is inspiring that possibility now.”
At the end of the day, George Wachiuri thanked and got to award his books “Soaring like an Eagle and Unleash Your Full Potential” to some of the students as they also got a chance to ask questions and interact with the honourable figure. It was a dream come true for most as the event came to a close late in the evening with a powerful prayer.
