The need to innovate is a key aspect of being relevant and impactful in the training space. This was said by Dr. George Wachiuri during the official launch of key initiatives by the Technical and Vocational Training Authority on 9th July 2024.
The launch by TVETA is aimed at advancing middle level training and skills development in Kenya. Optiven through it’s foundation and partnerships with stakeholders has been impacting lives of youth undertaking different courses in TVET institutions across the country.
The initiatives that will take effect immediately include the launch of the TVETA strategic plan, the Kenyan journal of TVET and the roadmap for Team Keny to participate in a competition at the Worldskills International competition to be held in France in September 2024.
According to Dr. Wachiuri, who is also the Founder of the Optiven Foundation, “as a foundation we are deliberate in building resilient professionals from TVET trainees as part of fulfilling our pillars in poverty eradication, employment creation as well as creating sustainable communities where youth make a positive contribution through wealth creation”

Dr. Wachiuri adds, “the developments at TVETA are bound to ripple out a competitive workforce that is ready for both the local and international job market”.
