Don’t bother to be better than your contemporaries just try to be better than yourself. How can you do this? There are many opportunities but many atimes these pass you by because you have not bettered yourself.
- Never ask how well are we doing. Instead ask how can we do better tomorrow than we did today? This will ensure you don’t get into the comfort zone.
- There’s no finish line for you. A finish line is a sign of mediocrity. It reminds me of the book Selling Like Crazy, by Sabri Subi.
- Pride comes before a fall. Avoid saying you have made it then dream bigger and go beyond the horizon.
- Accept negative feedback in order to grow and improve.
- Discipline is the greatest thing in the world and without it there’s no character or progress.
- Avoid laziness because it has a number of negative effects. Do it right and take initiative.
- Visionary companies are not comfort zones. Like eaglets the feathers are removed to force the birds to fly. Comfort should not be your goal. Create situations to make you uncomfortable for example by setting yourself a high target and stretching out. Jim Collins , in his book Built to Last, says powerfully and visionary install powerful mechanisms to create discomfort. Discomfort stimulates growth and change that takes you to the next level.
- Contentment leads to complacency – Complacency leads to decline of results.
How then can we do better?
- If you remain self disciplined you become top in your field and succeed.
- Keep the fire burning from within by planning your day well.
- Always push for improvement in all spheres of your life.
- Internal competition is healthy among teams. It’s necessary to create internal competition in order to keep the company vibrant.
- Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work.
